Dr. Lee earned his Doctor of Health Science (DHSc) degree from Pennsylvania Western University, in which his doctoral portfolio included a breadth of scholarship, teaching, and leadership artifacts focused on low energy availability (LEA), relative energy deficiency in sports (RED-S), overtraining syndrome (OTS), and interdisciplinary collaboration science in the field of human performance. Moreover, Dr. Lee earned his bachelor's and master's degrees from the State University of New York (SUNY) Oneonta, establishing a firm educational foundation in nutrition and dietetics.
Dr. Lee's passion lies in being a dietetics practitioner, with a focus on sports and tactical nutrition. He began his career as the resident nutrition expert for the Houston Astros (High-A) baseball team, where he developed and implemented nutrition programs to enhance the players' performance. As a Holistic Health and Fitness (H2F) Dietitian for the U.S. Army Forces Command, he regularly engages with Active-Duty Service Members to provide practical and effective nutritional advice, contributing to the brigade's lethality and mission readiness.
As a speaker, Dr. Lee has spoken for prestigious organizations such as the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics and the National Strength and Conditioning Association (NSCA). Additionally, he regularly speaks at nutrition and tactical performance presentations for U.S. Army Soldiers.
Dr. Lee regularly contributes to reputable health science outlets, including Tactical Training & Conditioning, Human Performance Resources by CHAMP (HPRC), and The Nutrition Communicator. As a writer, Dr. Lee provides science-based information to keep readers informed with the latest health and human performance guidance.
As a researcher, Dr. Lee's master's cumulative research project focused on the nutrition knowledge among exercise science and wellness students. Later, as a Study Coordinator at the Western Human Nutrition Research Center (at the University of California, Davis), Dr. Lee developed a body of knowledge and skills in nutritional science, research development and planning, and interdisciplinary research.
